Agency:  Book Fairies - collects gently used reading materials & redistributes them to high need areas across metropolitan NY  

Project Description:  Assist in sorting books in preparation for agency's Summer Book Bonanza.    

Location:  Freeport

Project #:  N02       

Agency:  Best Buddies creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD.)  

Project Description:  Best Buddies Long Island Friendship Walk     

Location:  Marjorie Post Park, Massapequa       

Date & Time:  Saturday, May 12 - 9:00am - Noon - Volunteers needed by 8am     

No. of Volunteers Needed:  12-14      

Inside/Outside:  Outside     

Supplies Provided: T-Shirts and all supplies will be provided.

Agency:  AHRC Nassau - A non-profit that works to enrich the lives of the developmental and intellectually disabled.  

Project Description:  Help host a staff appreciation day.

Location:  Glen Head         

Date & Time:  June 14, anytime between 11am-7pm       

No. of Volunteers Needed:  30-40 volunteers in total.  Smaller groups welcome      

Inside/Outside:  Inside     

Supplies Provided: All supplies will be provided by the agency.  Special parking will be arranged for volunteers, meals will be provided and when not assigned to a task, volunteers are welcome to participate in activities.

Project #:  N05

Agency:  AHRC Nassau - A non-profit that works to enrich the lives of the developmental and intellectually disabled.  

Project Description:  AHRC Walk for Awareness at Eisenhower Park  

Location:  Eisenhower Park Field 6A, Westbury         

Date & Time:  October 14, anytime between 8am-1pm      

No. of Volunteers Needed:  70-100 volunteers in total.  Groups of 10-20 volunteers are welcome to help.

Supplies Provided: All supplies will be provided by the agency.

Project #:  N06

Agency:  Options for Community Living - Provides housing and support services to very low income individuals and families, the majority of which have disabilities.  

Project Description:  Exterior planting and interior painting at a private home.  Interior painting:  living room an dining room.  Exterior planting:  mulch and plant small flower bed and potentially power wash house.   

Location:  Massapequa          

Date & Time:  Monday - Friday, 8am-4pm        

No. of Volunteers Needed:  5-10 people         

Inside/Outside:  Inside & Outside      

Supplies Provided: All supplies will be provided by the agency.   Carpool if possible.

Agency:  Catholic Charities, Diocese of Rockville Center - Regina Residences - 24/7 residential setting for single pregnant and parenting women who seek resources and support.    

Project Description:  Yard clean-up and plantings.

Location:  Merrick          

Date & Time:  9AM - 3PM         

No. of Volunteers Needed:  10-15 people         

Inside/Outside:  Outside      

Supplies Provided: flowers, trash bags

Agency: Garden Vines - Not-for-profit collaborative between  Reigning in Life Training Center, a faith-based not-for-profit organization in the Village of Hempstead, and Cynthia Proscia, Registered Dietitian and Clinical Professor at Adelphi University.    

Project Description:  Jackson Annex elementary school garden beautification. 

Location:  Hempstead            

Date & Time:  June 12, 2-4:30PM          

No. of Volunteers Needed:  10           

Inside/Outside:  Outside      

Supplies Provided: paint, stencils, scrubs and perennials

Agency:  Options for Community Living - Provides housing and support services to very low income individuals and families, the majority of which have disabilities.

Agency: Adults and Children with Learning and Developmental Disabilities, Inc. (ACLD) - ACLD is a not-for-profit whose mission is to provide services for children and adults with autism, learning and developmental disabilities to pursue enviable lives, increase independence and foster supportive relationships with the community.

Project Description:  Volunteers for the ACLD Foundation Walk/Run Journey to an Enviable Life on Sunday, September 30, 2018, at Bethpage State Park.

Location:  Bethpage

Date & Time:  Sunday, September 30, 2018, 8:00am - 2:00pm

No. of Volunteers Needed:  40 volunteers needed; groups of 5-10 are welcome.

Inside/Outside:  Outside

Supplies Provided: The agency will provide all necessary supplies.   Volunteers will receive a T-shirt and refreshments.
