Agency:  AHRC Nassau - A non-profit that works to enrich the lives of the developmental and intellectually disabled.  

Project Description:  Greenhouse Clean Up.  Located on it's Brookville Campus, the agency has a fully functioning commercial greenhouse.  The exterior planting beds are in need of a complete clean up.  The job will include removing plants, shrubs, small trees, old fences and potentially a shed.  The earth around these beds will need to be tilled and prepped for future plantings and paths will need to be re-laid throughout the field.

Location:  Brookville          

Date & Time:  Monday-Friday, 8am-3pm       

No. of Volunteers Needed:  40-50 volunteers in total.  Groups of 10-20 volunteers are welcome to help.

Project #:  N03 - Part 1 

Agency:  AHRC Nassau - A non-profit that works to enrich the lives of the developmental and intellectually disabled.  

Project Description:  Day Site Clean Up - The agencies day habilitation site in Massapequa has a memorial garden in the back in need of renovation.  They need a group to come in and complete the first part of this renovation by removing several raise planters, removing paving stones and in general clearing the area out for the next step.   
 

Location:  Massapequa          

Date& Time:  Monday - Friday, 10am-2pm        

No. of Volunteers Needed:  15-20 people

Supplies Provided: Shovels, rakes trash bags, kneeling pads, hammers, crowbars.   Group interested in this project is encouraged to consider paying for a dumpster to assist with the clean up.

Project #:  N03 - Part 2

Agency:  AHRC Nassau - A non-profit that works to enrich the lives of the developmental and intellectually disabled.  

Project Description:  Memorial Garden Construction.   The agency's Day Habilitation Site in Massapequa is interested in constructing a memorial garden behind the site in memory of the site's first manager who passed away suddenly.  This project includes constructing four raised vegetable gardens and creating a pathway to each garden using paving stones.

Location:  Massapequa

No. of Volunteers Needed:  15-20 people

Agency:  Brookville Center for Children's Services - non-profit serving developmentally disabled children.

Project Description:  Field Day/Carnival - The agency has two schools on its Brookville Campus that would be happy to host a company interested in organizing a field day or carnival for the children.  Past groups have brought in bounce houses, carnival style games, clowns, cotton candy machine, etc.  School runs year round with a summer program that could easily benefit from such an event.

Agency: Citizen's Options Unlimited - non-profit serving the developmentally disabled. .    

Project Description:  Softball game - The agency's ComeUnity Sports softball team begins practicing every Monday at Eisenhower Park on July 8.  The team is always looking for a group to come in and help with a practice or participate in an integrated scrimmage game 

Location:  Eisenhower Park            

Date & Time:  Mondays, 5:30-7:30pm, beginning July 8

Agency:  Options for Community Living is committed to assisting individuals and families in need to develop their fullest potential for independent living.  Residential and support services prepare participants for the demands and responsibilities of community life and promote housing permanency, health, safety and welfare.  


Project Description:  Exterior work at a residence in Lynbrook.  Power wash home, trim bushes/trees, plant/mulch garden beds. 
 

Location:  Lynbrook  
 

Date & Time:  Monday - Friday, 8am-4pm  

No. of Volunteers Needed:  10-15 people

Agency:  Hair We Share - nonprofit organization whose mission is to help maintain the dignity, confidence and self-esteem of those affected by medical hair loss, by providing quality hair solutions at no cost to many men, women and children through the USA.


Project Description:  Volunteers needed to assist with managing the abundant supply of pony tails in order to design them into wigs.  Help is needed with data entry - log donor information and pony tails (skills in Excel is a plus), and wig design - sort pony tails by color texture and length.

Agency:  Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is the largest nonprofit dedicated to creating a world without blood cancers.  The organization invests in groundbreaking research leading to many of today's most innovative approaches.  



Project Description: Volunteers for Light the Night Walk 2019, an inspirtational community event that raises awareness and funding for research and treatment options to eliminate cancer.  Volunteers will be responsible for a variety of jobs including set-up, greeting participants, registration/check-in, help in the kids section and top fundraiser and sponsor area.  Volunteers will be able to interact with participants, get to know why they are involved with LLS, and help make sure they are having a fabulous time!


Location: Eisenhower Park

Project Description:  AHRC Walk - AHRC Walk is an event that raises awareness and support to enrich the lives of children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.  With over 1,200 participants, this family-centered event thrives on the support of our volunteers.  The following opportunities are available:  morning set-up, t-shirt distribution, games, pumpkin patch, cheerleaders at the start/finish line, breakdown/clean-up.

Date& Time:  Sunday, September 29, 7:30am - 1pm 
         

No. of Volunteers Needed:  30-40 volunteers in total.  Groups of 10-20 volunteers are welcome to help.
